Hot IT jobs: Systems administrator

Apparently system administrator is again a hot IT job based on this article. I have seen many definitions of a sysadmin and various characterizations from short to very long and complex, but I really liked how Jim Lanzalotto, vice president of strategy and marketing at Yoh, a recruiting and outsourcing provider, described sysadmins:
the job is as unglamorous as it is essential, and “If they do their job right, you never hear about them.”
